Canon PowerShot G4

I need to reprocess some old raw files from the above camera, which were taken c2006. As you can imagine the files are reasonably small, the G4 was after all only a 4 Mb camera.

Does anyone know if there are profiles available for this camera for use in either Photoshop or Lightroom?

Or indeed, profiles for any other program.

I should add that I have since discovered that some of the shots were taken with a Digital IXUS 60.

Canon never released a PowerShot G4 camera, and the IXUS 60 did not have RAW image support built in, so I'm not sure what images you are looking at.

there is a CHDK for IXUS 2006 and I believe that at least G2 is supported by lightroom.

Re: Canon PowerShot G4

Many thanks for the information. Unfortunately I have no idea what a CHDK is, so could you please elaborate.

With regards to the Powershot G4, I think that was a mistake and we are actually talking about a G2.

What I actually want to do is simply reprocess some images taken with the G2 and IXUS 60, utilising automatic lens correction.

I am happy to use Lightroom or DPP4, whichever is easiest.

I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to implement automatic lens corrections for these two cameras. Can I do this directly in Lightroom or DPP4? Or do I need to purchase some third-hand profiles? If the latter, any suggestions as to where I can find these.

One final question. When I open an image in Lightroom, I seem to have many more lens profiles available than I do when I open the same image in Photoshop. Shouldn't these be the same as they are both based on ACR?

If there is lens profile for G2 then lightroom should be able to apply it automatically but for jpegs, haven't they always been already corrected,  I never use jpegs myself.

Re: Canon PowerShot G4

I have no idea whether JPEGs straight out of the camera have had lens corrections applied, especially at the time these images were captured back in 2006-7.
