I am afraid this lens is so special that it will not save the EF-M mount. šŸ¤”

Grip visible?

One big question I have is whether the grip of the M6 mark II will be visible in the photo. If not, I might get it.

I have the meike 6.5mm fisheye and I like it but it just does not show the full circle on the 1.6x canon crop. It was designed for the 1.5 crop on sony of fuji.

Grip visible?  I’d be more concerned about my ears being in the shot šŸ˜‰

Haha, well my fingers end up in my shots often but when I care I can always pop it on a tripod ...

But if the grip is visible, then it will always be there. I am not planning on buying a gripless EOS M.

It looks similar in design/shape as the Laowa 4mm f/2.8. I have the Laowa and the M5 or M6m2 camera grip do not show in the image. My fingers do show up if I am holding the camera by the grip.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I will just get the LAOWA.

Impressed by Laowa lenses. Difficult/impossible keeping legs out of image.

I am impressed with Laowa and their 4mm is actually available.  It is a phenomenal 210° lens.  I see the 7artisan is supposed to be 225° which could be even more problematic keeping one's legs out of the image.

Funny, the first sample shots I found on the internet the guy handheld it and got his fingers in every shot, except two!  He also got his legs in a few of the images. It seems to have incredible flare control.

When you print or share your fisheye images I highly recommend that you crop out the typical blue halo.  It is the last thing I do when processing my circular fisheye images and I have never understood those who don't.

It will be very difficult to keep your feet or tripod out of the image.  Be wary of this and allow for cloning to repair.  Of course shooting straight up won't be a problem, but most of my images are made perfectly horizontal.

From what you describe, I propose to use a tripod with horizontal arm feature, this way it may be possible to move the tripod legs out of the image.

I will use mine next time I am in that situation.  My lens is 180° though, so much easier to overcome.  My approximately 16" arm would likely not overcome a 210-225° lens.

Re: New 4mm f/2.8 fisheye

I wonder what the diameter of the image circle is. I have a 4.5mm Sigma (discontinued) in EF-S mount, and there are lots of unused pixels, even on the 15mm dimension.

Youtube review

I had the Laowa 4 mm for a little while, but got rid of it again as it was not wide enough for what I wanted to use it for - see https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/63349330

There is already a Youtube review of the 7Artisans

I will be getting it - those 250° Entaniya HAL's are just to expensive
