Programable focal length pull

Hi all,

Complete video noob here so maybe there is something obvious I am over looking. I have recently been watching a lot of videos on the JibONE v2 by edelkrone. A very impressive piece of kit and I love how Edelkrone have made it modular in a way that you can add functionality by using their other equipment.

I saw using their focus module you can program in a focus pull. What I was wondering is there anyway to program in a focal length change on a zoom lens? Is there any kit on the market which would add this functionality into a single workflow?

Thanks

Re: Programable focal length pull

It depends on the camera, but the old LANC control standard is apparently still alive and well.  Look for a LANC controller with zoom speed control settings, sometimes they can be set up so the controllers zoom rocker is limited in how fast or slow it can make the lens change focal length.  Several manufacturers make them, "Vari-Zoom" was one of the bigger ones.  Older LANC controllers still work with modern cameras that support the protocol.
