Amazing that Fujifilm still update firmware for their very first zoom lens!

Hmm - not much for the X-H2S unless you have experienced one of the bugs.

Has anyone updated the 18-55 yet??

There is a strange thing: the file is a *.zip, with 2 *.dat inside...

Never happened in the past, with the other lenses/firmware..

Yes strange...should be the XFUP0004.DAT file only...worked for me.

Have updated without problem

Appreciate the adjustment of zoom in MF with peaking light.

Hope other bugs are now effectively fixed

Well it's gone from 1.03 to 2.0 so may be worth updating...plus there's always the "Other minor bugs have been fixed".

Enjoy lol.

Not sure which one is correct but if you copy both to a card the camera picks the right file

Well I updated anyway - just in case - but it seems more of a 1.04 update

yes the new 18-55mm firmware update contains two files: XFUP004.DAT and XFUP0046.DAT

I put both into the root directory of the SD card and the update was no problem.

I guess it is just like with the firmware for the 15-45mm which also uses two files, XFUP0029.DAT and XFUP0036.DAT - see

Yes, using just the XFUP0004.DAT file worked for me too.

Quite the opposite - upgrade ASAP!

After about 40 years in the industry where software updates and patches are done almost on a daily basis, I will translate the phrase "Other minor bugs have been fixed." from the corporate jargon to the human language this way:

"The list of other bugs which are (supposedly, but we aren't sure) fixed is way too long to provide it here, and we never admit openly that there were so many of them. Also we don't actually have a clue, were these bugs interdependent or not. Moreover, some of these bugs were so stupid that we neither admit they ever existed nor we will disclose any",

So upgrade ASAP...

Indeed, especially the part with "Moreover, some of these bugs were so stupid that we neither admit they ever existed nor we will disclose any".

I remember a firmware upgrade for the Olympus Pen-F which would regularly crash the camera, so you have to restart it. More and more people were experiencing it, although not every owner could recreate it. A few weeks later Olympus released a new, minor firmware update, which only said "Various bug fixes." - it fixed the issue of the camera locking-up introduced with the major firmware, but they obviously didn't want to to admit the bug.

18-55 firmware update

I don't fully understand what the firmware is supposed to do. The release notes say, "Resolution of the still image has been improved at using the “MECHANICAL SHUTTER” or “E-FRONT CURTAIN SHUTTER” in on the specific conditions."

I'm interpreting that as, "Resolution of the still image has been improved when using 'MECHANICAL SHUTTER' or 'E-FRONT CURTAIN SHUTTER'." So... maybe some kind of OIS improvement that can deal with shutter shock? I don't think the lens knows what shutter option has been chosen.

Presumably it doesn't care - does the same thing regardless of shutter type - but only noticeable with some sort of mechanical shutter?

Saw some software updates, but still no RAW file converter (silkypix) for the XH2S.

I don't want to have to upgrade C1 just to get RAW files....expensive upgrade

Re: Lots of firmware updates just released . . .

Before I update the firmware in my X-H2S and 18-55mm lens, I'll wait to ensure there are no issues reported with the new firmware.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Re: Lots of firmware updates just released . . .

I'm trying to figure out what this means in the H2S firmware update 2.0

The bug has been fixed, which caused that the focal point of a lens was sometimes behind the subject when shooting the small object by selecting “SUBJECT DETECTION SETTING”.

Is that a focus improvement? There has recently been a few threads about Fuji missing focus. I mainly notice this with the 100-400 where it would focus a bit behind or in front of where the AF point is.

I would guess that yes, it is a focus improvement. But, I could certainly be wrong.
