R5C: Base ISO Settings

How exactly does "Dual ISO" work with the R5C?

I understood that e.g. when using Canon-Log ISO 800 (base ISO I) and 3200 (base ISO II) give the best results, e.g. 2500 is significantly more noisy than 3200.

But how do the settings in the ISO/Gain Mode menu relate to the settings in the Base ISO menu? Is it the case that with the "Manual" setting in the ISO/Gain Mode menu I overwrite all the settings in the Base ISO menu, i.e. exactly the ISO value that I manually selected is always set? On the other hand, what happens with the "Automatic" setting in the ISO/Gain Mode menu? Do I get a classic auto ISO then? What significance would the base ISO setting then have?
