Canon EOS-R3 and manual focus lens IRIX 11mm aperture issue

Question.

Just recieved my Irix 11mm f/4 lens.

Now...I can set the aperture in camera with my R5 and older 5D camera's.

But! With the R3 I cannot see or set the aperture. Not in Av nor in M.What am I doing wrong?

I did find an option in the orange menu 6 -> AV setting without lens.

If I turn this ON I can set the aperture when the lens is detached.

However, when I attach the lens the setting disappears.

Re: Canon EOS-R3 and manual focus lens IRIX 11mm aperture issue

It seems that while IRIX EF lenses are compatible with the R, RP, R5 and R6, they are not with the R3, R7 and R10 cameras.

It says so in the IRIX (official?) blog post https://irixlens.com/2018/12/28/2158/ titled (rather misleadingly) "Irix lenses now fully compatible on Canon EOS R mount".

The blog post is from 2018, probably when R came out. They seem to have added the incompatibility footnote recently without any mention of such edit

Their 11mm f4 freezes R7 when trying to take photos, so completely unusable

That is indeed weird.

It’s not a big issue here, i’ll keep the irix on the r5, but it is weird…
