Is the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 supposed to be a different color than all the rest?

I have a weird question. My EF-M 32mm lens has a different texture/finish and it's more silver than gun-metal gray like the rest of my EFM lenses.

For example, my 11-22mm looks like this:

Dark grey with a shiny metallic finish.

However, my EF-M 32mm f/1.4 looks like this:

More matte and a dark silver color and it has a slight texture to it... not as shiny as the other M lenses in my collection.

I'm basically wondering if that's just the way they made the 32mm lens or if there's color/texture variations from the factory?

I'm going to keep it anyway since it works perfectly and takes insanely sharp photos wide open at f/1.4, but it's just weird that it doesn't match the rest of the EF-M line of lenses. Maybe they were trying to save a bit of money since this lens is already pretty expensive as it is, so they went a little cheaper on the plastic body? Also, the focus ring is nice and smooth and solid feeling and the lens performs like no other, so it's not the biggest deal in the world.

Anyone else that might have this lens, does it look slightly different from your other M lenses?

This question has not been answered yet.

Mine is little lighter in color than the others but feels otherwise the same.

Of course all the Canon EF-Ms look like plastic toys compared to Sigma 16/1.4 for some reason unkown to me...

The 22mm, 11-22mm, and 18-55mm have a thin exterior aluminum shell.  All other EF-M lenses use molded plastic for the exterior.  You may be seeing subtle differences between painted and as-molded finishes.

Oh that's interesting to know. My kit lens also looks like the 11-22mm with a smooth metallic finish that is dark grey.

It's fine. It's not such a bad thing because I can quickly identify the 32mm vs the 11-22mm since they're almost the same size.

I think the answer has been obvious for years.  The different finish is like a force-multiplier and makes the 32 insanely sharp!
