Truckee River
2

While on vacation this past July I also got a chance to find some people on the Truckee River in California. It was fun to stop and see them and take some photos.

Photo No. 1 - It was amazing for me to see so many of them on this river.

Photo No. 2 - Occasionally people would wave.

Photo No. 3 - And again....

Photo No. 4 - And again....

Photo No. 5 - Constantly the tubes and canoes would float down the river.

Photo No. 6 - One group of people after another....

Photo No. 7 - Some managed to be by themselves in a tube or canoe, far from anyone else.

Photo No. 8 - And some chose to be completely by themselves.

Photo No. 9 - Again....

Photo No. 10 - Sometimes it could be congested and they could move down fast.

Photo No. 11 - Other times they would have some playful water fights.

Photo No. 12 - There were also moments they would stop for a while to pause before continuing down the river. Look how many people there were! I hope you liked this little series of photos.

Hi Digirame,

Super set, it's great to see people enjoying themselves, makes you want to buy a dingy and join in with them.

Truckee River - Thanks

Thanks.  Yes, it would be nice.  Of course the cameras would have to be included on the trip.   Well, that is in waterproof cases.

Hi all,

Blue skies, for a change and *blue* water.

St Mawes Castle is an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII circa 1540. It formed part of the King's Device programme to protect against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire. Thanks.  I do like to interact with them.  They looked like they were having so much fun.

Re: Saint Mawes, Cornwall.

I think the castle is neat. If I was there and they would let me, I'd be climbing all over that taking pictures. That's a nice harbor with the sail boat and the lighthouse. We also have wildflowers around, but none that are a pretty yellow like that. That's great you had continued good weather at St. Mawes Harbour. That's a good one of the bird picking apart the starfish.

Re: Back yarding from my garage in the rain

Your birds are excellent. Enjoy the rain. We on the West Coast have very dry weather (except for parts of Southern California). We can't wait for rain to help put out some of the forest fires. We had smoke around here yesterday. Today is better...would love to see that rain again....

Nice! The water is flat and looks safer than the two rivers that go thru Eugene. The McKenzie and Willamette are still a bit rough, whitewater when they get here. And the rocks and logs in the water make it more dangerous. That looks like leisurely fun. Nice set of images!

Thanks.  It appeared to be a safe place without rough waters.   I didn't see any rocky drop-offs either.

Re: Tiny Titmouse

Caught this little Tufted Titmouse on the feeder a few days ago. They're small, fast and skittish, so it's a challenge to capture one. This one was almost successful (see bottom image).

What was "almost" about it? Here's the original, more or less:

I was able to crop off most of the feeder cap, but I had to clone out a little bit. However, I also had accidentally cropped off the very tip of his (her?) tail when I shot so I had to "clone on" a few feather tips and background.

Re: Tiny Titmouse

That's great to do that in post processing.  The bird is super.

Since I have only free inexpensive software, occasionally I will also copy & paste things to get it to look right (when I can).  That is part of the art of taking photos.

Your photos of Cornwall are very pretty.

I've never seen a herring gull (or any bird!) eating a starfish, especially a juvenile.

Re: Tiny Titmouse

Cool.

What made that background, or was it completely photoshop based?

Now, I just need Humphrey Bogart out there in a trench coat on a stake out, leaning up against the pole smoking a cigarette.

It's not impossible.

Perhaps ask a PS whizz to have a go at it.

Anyways, funky photo Steve.
