Just bought an S5 Pro
6

Hi all,

A couple of days ago I came across a used but very well preserved S5 Pro DSLR. It's shutter count is only 5.200, the camera came with an AF-S Nikon 18-200mm. VR (first version), a Nikon SB-600 flash, two batteries, two CF-cards (16GB Kingston Elite Pro and 2GB SanDisk Ultra II) and a nice Tamrac back-pack. Everything looking as new and including all the original boxes, cables, manual, etc.

The S5 was one of those cameras I always regretted selling, but at the time I had to in order to fund the purchase of a Nikon D800. However, this was a chance to once again add an S5 to my set-up and I bought this complete set for a very reasonable (at least in my view) price of € 325. I'm really looking forward to playing around with the S5 again, 7 years after I sold my original one.

I feel the same about my D300 (same generation Nikon, I believe).  Fantastic camera - Hard to believe they're so cheap on eBay these days.

Congrats!

I still have my 2 original S5's.  They were the springboard to my long relationship with Fuji products.  Even though they don't possess the MP power of today's cams, they still provide a digital image that has the tonality and allure of Fuji AND prints very well to 16x24........if you actually wanted a print. 😁

The D300 is actually of a later generation. The S5 was based on the D300’s predecessor, the Nikon D200.

Hi,

Gratz on new [Pro] toy

Just note on count - I bought my S5 at 1k+ count but since then it revinded to 0, probably on 9999th shot. So, after all that years,  your 5k can be 15k.

But, it does not matter - my S5 still work like new ! Attached Nikkor 50 1.4D want's some oil inside but S5 is, as always, perfect

Wish same for you,

Re: Just bought an S5 Pro

I was delighted to locate a very nice 3.8k S5 Pro recently. Makes a nice addition to my S2s and S3s. For actual handling I think the S3 is far and away the best but recognise that the S5 does have a few benefits in the power department and it is just a tad lighter.  Shame they did away with the XD card slot - I find XDs are a much faster write than CF.

Haven't had a chance to put it to good use yet but will soon.
