Diving Sipandan & Mabul
6

Dear Forum Members,

I wanted to share with you some of my pictures taken round Pulau Sipadan and Pulau Mabul in Malaysian Borneo (Sabah).

I had to reactivate my (not so) trusted Olympus E-PL7, since for my current main camera the Fuji X-S10 no UW housing is available. 😏

Enjoy,

Lars

Thanks for sharing!  How many dives were you able to do?

Re: Diving Sipandan & Mabul

A lot of your WA shots are at fully open aperture, 100 ISO, and a very fast shutter speed.   A smaller number at at F7 or 8.   Not sure if you made that correction, but you would do better at f/8 for many of those.   Sharper, and with more depth of field.    It can lead to a forced tradeoff with ISO or shutter speed in the darker depths.

Good catch on the crocodile fish - they can be very well hidden, not always give a good angle.  Though I don't know it well enough to get right in front of its mouth like that!   (whitetips, sure).

How are you doing your post processing?   I feel like you're not getting as much as you could.   I suspect you can get a bit more contrast, better color.   Are you just doing Levels correction, or resetting the white balance to a custom point?

All of them are beautiful, I also found interesting the somewhat muted colors. Which housing are you using with the EPL7? Is it big and heavy as most of them?

Thanks
