PF Rokkor 1.4 58mm blurry at infinity

Hi All, something siple, something baaaad...It appears that at infinity the lens seems (is) slightly 'off', blurry. Now, what this be because the lens is 57 years old or that its on my x-700 ? Would it be to do with openning up/down the lens ? Or plain old buggered

Any help would be fab. I just don't want to waste any film tbh

Thanx in advance and best

Dean

Posting some sample shots would help .

These need to show from the foreground to the back ground so it can be seen if it's a focussing issue etc .

State what shutter speed and aperture are used .

Just saying it's blurred with no other information makes it impossible to guess where the problem is .

Is it just what you see threw the viewfinder that's blurred or the resulting images ?

Are they blurred just on one film camera or are you also getting blurred results when adapted to a mirror less camera ?

Like I said , unless you give more information, there's nothing to go on .

None of those things should cause it to be blurry.

Or plain old buggered

That's likely. Some old lenses have been 'fixed' or 'adjusted' by owners who don't know what they're doing ... then afterwards the lenses don't work properly and they get sold on to other owners.

One possibility is that your lens was partially disassembled and then reassembled with the helicoids in the wrong position. That's fixable if the owner knows what he's doing,

Thanx Everyone, thats been a little help. I'll try and get some sample photos over the weekend. They'll be shot on the original camera the lens came with (in 1965 - an SR7 :-).

Thanx again

Is this a new lens to you?

Most lenses have an infinity adjustment procedure, but the adjustment is not something that's normally needed unless the lens has been serviced. If the focus at infinity has spontaneously changed, it's likely that there's something broken in the lens. Canon used plastic rollers in their lenses that break and cause various problems, it's possible there's something similar in your lens.

I would expect that it's repairable, though.
