Underwater housing for a Sony A57

Hello folks, I'm late to the party here, but figured I'd ask the question. I own and use a Sony Alpha A57. I like the camera a lot. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I might find an underwater housing (Maybe an Ikelite) for it. I know the Ikelite 6842.65. is long since discontinued, but I wonder if there's a used market place for an item like that.  Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Rob,

In the forums cited in the linked tread, you can also make an announcement that you are looking to buy a specific item: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4668175

it's very unlikely you will found a housing for a 10 year old model that wasn't all that popular to begin with.   Sony just pumped out a lot of revisions at that point in time, and now  the A-mount has been long discontinued.

You could get lucky and find someone that is dumping their random A-mount camera + housing, and if you solicit it, you might find an owner who has one in the back of the closet.  But there's little point limiting yourself unless you have many relevant lenses for UW.   Same difference if you buy a used rig based on any other maker.

In general it's better to stick to popular models and lens lines.   For Sony, that would be the E-mount where they really got market traction.

also note that while you may like this camera, once you put it into a housing, it's no longer the same thing, particularly if what you like was the ergonomics and the button layout.  Not all housings will give you all functions, as there are physical challenges in laying out the connections.

As an opposing argument, if you use your camera more extensively top side, then it is ideal to find a way to make it work underwater as well, not have to carry two.
