Thanks Digi, that is  a juvenile house Finch but it seemed quite large that is what grabbed my attention.

Dunlin, that one cracked me up. It's a juvenile Eastern Towhee. It seemed to be saying seriously? Taking pictures in the rain? Lol

"juvenile Eastern Towhee" For all I know you could be saying the name of a fictitious alien; my knowledge of american (I presume you're in the USA) birds goes about as far as: hmmm... american robin.... errr.... I'm stuck.

Perhaps that's why I like it so much - it's not just another pic of a bird I've seen a thousand times.
