Mono Lake
2

While traveling on my summer vacation last month I was fortunate enough to have the time to photograph Mono Lake. It was a cloudy day with some sun, so I got a variety of interesting images. I hope you like these.

Photo No. 1 - Just before we got to Mono Lake I snapped this photo from the car.  This is the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada mountains that still had a little snow.

Photo No. 2 - When we first got there in our car, I was disappointed with the lighting.

Photo No. 3 - But some sun came out for a few moments.  That's the same tree.  Can you see what difference sunshine makes?

Photo No. 4 - Well, here it is...Mono Lake with a combination of bright sun and shadows.

Photo No. 5 - I took this path.

Photo No. 6 - And continued towards the edge of Mono Lake.

Photo No. 7 - Shadows again...but it still was neat to photograph.

Photo No. 8 - There were interesting formations.

Photo No. 9 - Some of it looked like blocks of ice, but they were not.

Photo No. 10 - Hey, I even got a BIF.

Re: Mono Lake

Cool photos. Lake Mono looks like an interesting place to be.

I think no.9 is my favourite.

Mono Lake - Thanks

Thanks.  Yes, the ninth photo was quite different and interesting where the pieces of salt looked like ice.

Re: Scotland p.1

Ah yes...Scotland...what a nice place to be.   I really like the first photo with the clouds.  You captured the moon and the clouds quite well in the last two pictures too.  You must have lots of vacation (holiday) images to post process.

I still haven't reviewed and processed all of my vacation photos.  I was gone for two weeks.  Then I came back to Oregon and continued taking pictures.  I have too many.

Re: My R7 arrived

My R7 showed up today and as luck would have it I spotted a wild turkey running through the field by my house.

I am sharing un cropped and cropped. I have a feeling I am really going to like this system once I figure out the setup.

Mono Lake - Thanks

Thanks.  I have more that I may later show.  I had an interesting display of light.

Re: My R7 arrived

Cool.   The wild turkey looks great.

I'm a little "jealous" but I already have five cameras I'm using currently.  It has taken me a while to get used to the two mirrorless cameras.  I do like that they are lighter.  For video, I really like the mirrorless ones.  I can use the viewfinder with the 55-200mm lens and get really nice results.  In the menu I was able to change the video on/off button from the tiny one to the big shutter button.  That was a huge "game changer" for me.  See if your R7 is set up the same way.

We can't wait to see your R7 images.   What's neat about the R7 is that it has a built-in viewfinder.  I didn't like the add-on option that came with the Canon M6 MKII.  Did you get the 18-150mm lens with it?

Mono Lake - Thanks

Thanks.  I really enjoyed being on vacation where I could find these interesting areas to photograph.  This is the dry side of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Re: My R7 arrived

Thanks, I am excited to get to understand it. I was all set to get the R5 then they announced the R7 and for the price I thought was a good one to get into mirror less without breaking the bank. I was worried about the size but really not much smaller than my 90D . Yes the view finder is great especially since I can tell how the scene is exposed, but I do have one issue. My glasses are polarized so my first test shots were over exposed because looked dark with my glasses on lol. When they say sticky autofocus they aren't kidding, the turkey was running and the focus stuck to it's head like glue. The one thing I am a bit weary of is the screen although beautiful playback seems cheaply made doesn't feel as robust as the 80 and 90D screen. Yes I did get the lens but I never took it out of the box yet. I may try it at the Fly in/ car show I attend in September.
