Depending on what screen you're in, pressing the Disp button might do it.  If not, one of these previous discussions will probably hold the key:

Thank you very much

1. Press the button you have assigned to "Focus Area Set"

2. Press the DISP button

Suggestion: If you configure one of the Custom Modes for your every day use, every time you power ON, the camera uses your default settings (which would include focus area in the center).

Thus, if you changed the focus area, ISO, WB, etc. for a particular scene, all would reset to the default settings on next power ON.

Thank you very much. I found the menu to assign the buttons and assigned the Fn3 to "Focus Area Set" and it works perfectly.

I did configure C1, thank you again.

I have more to learn from the camera even if I got it in 2014.

It's fine camera. I got mine in 2015. I don't have a large hand, but found an added Fotodiox thumb grip to be very helpful.

I saw your site, félicitations!.

My mother is from Mexico City and we spent many summer vcations in the sixties at my abuelitos house in San Miguel de Chapultepec near the now famous Roma neighbourhood. The pictures are taken on kodachrome with my Nikon FE at the dia de muertos fiesta in 2000 in front of the Merida (Yucatan) cathedral. So i am a blend of quebecois father, mexican mother and her father german, mexicanized in 1922.

Re: GX7 centering single focus target

and I forgot to say my problem is solved by putting off the direct focus area as it was working on C1 but not on the general use like P, S or A.

Ciao

Re: GX7 centering single focus target

My GX7 focus area also used to keep getting stuck in the top right, eventually i found it was something I was accidentally doing. I can't remember if it had an touch control rear screen, but I now never use touch active rear screens!
