Re: Sunset over the Jurassic coast.

Neat...love seeing your landscapes of the UK.  Is that a lighthouse in the background?

Re: Sunset over the Jurassic coast.

Hi Digirame, Thank You.

What you can see is part of the Smedmore estate and was built in 1830 it's what is known as a folly (a costly ornamental building with no practical purpose) or an observatory perhaps to please his guests as to the views over the bay.

The tower is about 35 feet (11 m) high and rises over what is known as Hen Cliff which rises about 330 feet (100 m) above the sea. The main tower is constructed of mortared selected stone and the windows are formed from brick. In total the tower has four floors; a stone ground floor, a wooden first, a wooden second and a wooden third floor. The tower is surmounted upon a shallow stone basement. Access to the first and second floors would have been accessible solely via a ladder. [Wikipedia]

The mist was swirling at this time so clarity is not very good.

Re: Sunset over the Jurassic coast.

Ah yes, an observatory...sound like a great place for guests.  We have something similar like that.  I saw some along the Willamette River a while back.  A few were private and others were public.

It looked like this:

Now, I'm standing on one of them.  The one the furthest from us (on the left side) I believe is private.  It belongs to the people in the apartments or condominium.

First, awesome shots, I love learning the history of the shots as well as the shots .

As far as my hiatus goes we are still doing well, but the deck that encircles my home was not so I have been in rebuild mode before winter rolls in. I thought my 90D finally gave up the ghost after 700k shutter clicks it was struggling to focus, Then I read somewhere that there are holes that is used in the focus mechanism and they sometimes plug with dust, so on a hope and a prayer I blew my camera out and presto it focused again. I also finally got the news my R7 should finally be shipping just in time for migration. Her are a couple that I squeezed in last week. Im also working on a  water mark lol

Your eagle pictures are excellent.  I'm glad you were able to fix the 90D.  It's nice to hear from you again.  Was one of the bird photos a hawk or was that a juvenile eagle?

Re: Been awhile but Im still kicking

Thanks Digi, It is a first year Juvenile. That day dad was teaching it fish. Those were taken at the fish hatchery I hike . The plus side of hiking there of course is a lot of fish eating birds. The downside is the ponds are small 50x100 yards each and sunken into the landscape. Unless you are standing on the edge of one of the ponds they dive into no chance of capturing the grab.

Why is it alone?  It does look strong.  Are you gong to plant more trees there?

I'm BACK!

I haven't been contributing to the forums here for a little while now.... I'm back!

I've got plenty of photos to share, I just need to find the time to process them. I'm starting to regret shooting so many RAWs.....

Re: I'm BACK!

Hi Jethro B,

Good to see you're back. Never regret shooting RAW's. I've got 100,000+, many of them with high ISO's because of my type of photography, you couldn't count the numbers that I've salvaged with DxO pure RAW. As technology moves on who knows what other benefits we will get. Stick with it you can only benefit.

I know....

It just takes quite a while to process them all. Not a task I enjoy doing in high quantities.

BTW DxO PureRAW is on my wishlist.

Re: I'm BACK!

Welcome back. I take so many photos, like every weekend that I don't shoot RAW. If you have time and want to do it, that's good. I'm taking so many lately, I don't even have time to process straight-out-of-the-camera JPEGs. I would most likely take RAW photos if it was something like a wedding. But it's only a hobby for me now.

Re: I'm BACK!

Welcome back, that is actually one thing I am excited about with the R7 from the SOC jpeg I have seen it seems to process them quite well with out destroying feather detail which of course is important to me since I mainly shoot birds. I have always shot raw and used Lightroom for processing. I have recently been dabbling with DPP for processing raw and actually like the color results better, but of course you do give up quite a bit compared to Lightroom as far as micro adjustments.

Have you tried ON1 Photo RAW, in particular ON1 NoNoise AI (built in)? NoNoise AI was recently improved to work better with JPEG and TIFF files.

Might be worth a try.

Watermark matters

Rocket13 wrote:

What program do you use for making watermark (s)?

It's something I want to do, but as I don't know how, I currently just use text.
