Mini-Challenge #708 Old Buildings

This weeks challenge is ‘old’ buildings. Looking for photos you took of biding that are at least 100 years old. They can be pristine, deteriorated, infuse or abandoned, historical, rural or urban, big or small, residential, religious, governmental or commercial. I’ll be judging on the interest of the subject, overall composition, lighting and the evoking of some type of emotion. I’d like the viewer to feel “yes, I’d have taken that photo”.

Some examples will follow.

This challenge will end on August 20, 2022 at 8 am Eastern time.

Challenge Rules:

The host gives you a topic and you post up to three images that fit. Remember, it's all about fun, sharing, and learning. Any picture you have taken in person is eligible, regardless of the time taken, camera, or post-processing used. The host chooses the winners and honourable mentions and posts those in a new thread. The host's decision is final. The winner of this challenge then hosts the next challenge, judges the winner of that one, and so on it goes. The winner of this challenge will have 48 hours to post the next challenge. If that doesn't happen, 2nd place will have 24 hours to do so, then it's up to 3rd place.

Submission Posting Guidelines:

Post each one of your three submissions in its own reply to this post. Give each post a unique Subject, please. It is best to embed an image in its post rather than linking to somewhere else. Feel free to post photos "for exhibition only" if you want to share more than three, or won't be available to host the next challenge. Try to preserve the EXIF please, so we can see which camera, lens, and settings were used.

Comment Posting Guidelines:

Feel free to post comments on the images or ask for comments. Don't hesitate to click on the green "Like" thumb on the top right of the post, so we know which images were most popular. Likes are appreciated as much as constructive criticism is. The host can make up his or her own mind without being influenced by that. I wish you all "good luck" and let's see some interesting pics.

One very cold March morning in NW Michigan. My friends farmhouse built in 1905, before undergoing renovations.

The San Xavier del Bac Mission church south of Tucson, AZ.

Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. This church is the oldest, still intact European structures in Arizona.

A personal bucket list place to visit.

I'd imagine that a lot of unsympathetic alterations over the previous 100 years have to be undone if restoration is the goal.

I am always amazed at the architecture and quality of churches in even some of the smallest towns.  A lot of dedicated hard work must have been expended over a few years to create such beauty.

We have very few 100 year old buildings where I live, for whatever reason. And the few we do have, are generally not photographically viable. But if I can bend the rule ever so slightly, here's a 99.x year old barn (built in 1923):

Some old structures I have visited in my travels, at least a lot older then myself.

Cape Blanco Lighthouse, Oregon. Built in 1870 and automated in 1980.

The Pendleton Barn, Fruita Valley, Capital Reef National Park, Utah. Raised in 1908

Old homestead built in the 1870’s along what would become Highway 395 in the Eastern Sierra Nevada of California. I took this about 2012 and from what I’ve heard it has completely collapsed from winter snows since then.

Thank you. It's kinda funny how photos can take on a life apart from their original conditions. That one looks like a cool and windy pre-storm moment. Truth is, it was off-the-scale humid, 86F and I was dripping sweat while shooting!
