Fringer NF-FX With Nikon 300 PF F/4 VR
11

This is a pretty sick little combination here.  It rained pretty well today, so I just fired off a few shots close to the house.

Some of these I just liked these Vibrant colors, so I took pictures of them with the lens.

Don't ask me what she got on her face, I have no idea what she got herself into.  😄

Nice! I recently adapted the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 E to my X-T3, and it is ripping sharp even wide open.

I was amazed at how small and light it is!  I’ve been very impressed with it overall.

You should try the 500 PF.  That lens is almost always on one of my bodies

Whoa, that’s more expensive than my current camera body and that’s used!  😁

Ya, the cost of a superb lens can be daunting.

Oh I know, but the 300 wasn't bad and honestly it might be more than enough reach for me.

I use both Nikon's, the 300 as well as the 500 PFs.

The 300 is so small and lightweight, it is a joy to use. In fact, it is so light that it has a fixed place in my hiking/outdoor lens kit. I find IS quite good and it's close focusing distance very useful.

I only have the lenses for a few weeks now but I like both of them a lot. I am very interested to see how the 300 delivers for sports as my son's Hockey season starts again in a few weeks.

How quick was the AF? Did it affect the camera's overall performance at all? I ask because I tried the fringer adapter with the 300 pf, and also the 80-400 G lens, on my X-T3 and had poor results. The AF hunted a lot, and it somehow affected the camera performance; e.g., reviewing images took 2 seconds just to get the LCD to respond, and navigating the menu was also significantly delayed. I checked contacts, and everything was updated, so not sure if I just had a bad copy of the adapter? I had to return it and haven't tried again.

I can’t speak to how it was on the X-T3, but on the X-H2S  it felt like a native lens to me.  I just bought the 1.7 TC as I heard good things about that too.  Maybe I’ll get the  1.4 TC as well, then I’ll have 300, 400, and 500 covered.

The 1.4 tc works great with the 300pf (and many other lenses). The 1.7 tc doesn't get much love. The tc2.0 iii seems to be better, optically speaking. Maybe I need to get the Xh2S or upcoming Xh2 and try it!

Re: Fringer NF-FX With Nikon 300 PF F/4 VR

I've been following some of the telephoto lens thread that are currently on the main page with interest. I've been weighing up my options for a the last couple of years it seems (was seeing how the Fuji 150-600 would turn out).

I like the idea of the Fringer NF-FX With Nikon 300 PF F/4 VR combo, possibly with a 1.4x converter too...

Long shot, but can anyone post their wildlife photos with this combo?
