Green and Great Blue Heron
2

Last Saturday, I saw this Green Heron. I only had this one opportunity. They have been extremely difficult for me to capture in the past (when I can see them). The lighting was really bad.  I was shooting into the sunny light, but the heron hid behind this rock.  It flew off shortly after I got this one.  The Great Blue Heron was also difficult, because I had to wait for a long time for it to move away from the shoreline of this lake before I got this one I liked.  Otherwise, there were too many distracting elements.

I've got tons of other photos from my vacation. I may submit them this week or the next. I've still been extremely busy.

Green and Great Blue Heron - Thanks

Thanks Don.  Taking pictures of the herons was also difficult because it was so hot.  It's generally in an area without a lot of trees, so there was only a little shade too (to keep cool).  But sometimes I get lucky at this location.  It's where I found the hawk perched a few weeks ago that I first thought was a juvenile bald eagle.

Hi Digirame,

Super photos of the Herons, we rarely see the Green Heron they only appear when they get blown off course.

Green and Great Blue Heron - Thanks

Thanks.  It's rare for me to see the green herons too.  Some years, I don't see them at all.

Re: A North Yorkshire village

I just love seeing these photos of old English villages and architecture. They are unique from our perspective for us living in the "New World".  That's a nice capture of the flower growing in the wild.  I don't remember seeing anything like it.

Hi Digirame, Thank You.

As you can imagine it's a well photographed village and there's the river nidd which I believe has another viaduct, Ill be going back again to walk some more.

Mt. Shasta
1

Here's one photo of Mt. Shasta  while I was on vacation.  It's over 14,000 feet in elevation.

I have so many pictures of my trip, but haven't had the time to go through all of them.  Then right after vacation, I went to a number of different events.  I have even more pictures.  I think I got ahead of myself.  But hey, it's summer and lots of things are going on.

I like this one because I was able to capture a portion of the truck on the right side.  It was taken directly from our car as we traveled along the highway.  I was the passenger.

Lazy Days of Summer

Here's a couple of photos of the lazy days of summer.  It was taken along the Truckee River in Northern California this past July.  Doesn't that look like fun?

I had the priveidgeof climbing Mt. Shasta once upon a time in my youth. We camped out on a glacier at the top.

I'll never forget the sight of a full moon from 14,000 feet up.

Mt. Shasta - Thanks

Thanks for the reply. That's nice to know that you had hiked up to the top. When I was high up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at night, I remembered seeing all of those stars. There was very little light pollution so I got to see all of that amazing beauty.

Nothing special.

I kind of liked the way the road disappears into nowhere, and the soft, out of focus background. Used cloudy white balance.

Mt. Shasta - Thanks

Thanks. It turned out pretty good taken through the windshield. I did take a lot of other pictures from the car. When someone else is driving, it's great to be able to play with the camera.
