R7 IBIS--wow!
4

I have never had a camera with IBIS, before the R7, though I've had plenty of IS lenses. I just tried out the IBIS on the R7 with my RF 50 F1.8, which doesn't have IS. All I can say is 'wow!'. Here is a 100% crop from the center of a handheld shot at 1/15:

And here's the same (approximate) view at a full second, also handheld:

I very much doubt whether I'll want to take many handheld exposures at 1 second with this lens, but it's still pretty amazing what modern IBIS systems can do. I can see this being useful with a wide angle lens (perhaps my RF 16 F2.8) to get flowing water nicely blurred while keeping the rest of the scene sharp. I've done that at 1/2 second with my 11-22 IS on my M6II. I think I could easily use a full second with my RF 16 on my R7.

Interesting e-shutter result
2

The test images I put in my previous post were taken with EFCS. I thought I'd try out e-shutter, to see how it compares. The interesting thing is that I can't get it anything like as sharp with a 1 second e-shutter exposure. I switched back to EFCS, to see whether my earlier results had been a fluke, but no. In fact, my later EFCS shots were, if anything, even sharper at 1 second than the one I posted. I wonder why IBIS seems to work better with EFCS than e-shutter? At least in my limited testing so far.

Good stuff!  I don't think my R5 would match it with my 85mm Art....

Interesting. I had some blurred (well, slightly) shots with my R5 + 12mm fish eye using e-shutter. I thought the focus distance scale would be off, but maybe e-shutter is playing a role here. Or IBIS isn't working correct because the camera doesn't know the focal length.... lots of factors...

I think that for lenses with no communication with the camera you need to set the focal length manually for ibis to work properly.

Maybe. But that doesn’t apply to the RF 50 F1.8.

Edit: it looks like you were replying to Thunder Storm. Sorry.
