I shot with a Canon FT-QL 35mm film SLR from 1968 to 2003 before going to the Canon DSLRs: Rebels and then the 70D and then the 80D. All of my DSLRS - even the Rebels - dwarfed the FT-QL in size and weight.

Today I got my R7 (kitted with the RF-S 18-150) and OMG, except for its hand grip, its actually a little smaller than my FT-QL.

As an old film shooter, I appreciate that the R7 lets me set the lens' control ring to set the aperture and the main dial on the top deck to set shutter speed, and keep an RGB histogram in the viewfinder as a surrogate for the FT's match-needle exposure system (I shoot RAW in manual exposure). So I've set it up to feel like my FT-QL. I've also set the EVF to full-time depth of field as well as exposure simulation.

It's a high-functioning camera I actually enjoy carrying around!

PS If you want to get an R7 anytime soon, order the kit with the 18-150 lens - Canon is shipping far fewer "body only" packages.

I'll keep my EF-S 18-135 nano USM lens to use with the power zoom adapter I bought on eBay recently for the occasional video - but most of the time I'll use the RF-S 18-150mm kit lens - I tested mine and it's better than I expected. I keep the RF 50 f/1.8 in my vest pocket for low light and portrait work!
