Canon 1dx with canon 300mm f2.8L and canon 2x extender iii issue

I have just acquired a Canon 2x extender iii pairing it with a 300 F2.8 lens.

The arrangement seems to work quite well but when I came to set any required micro adjustment the EXIF information recording the micro setting is missing from DPP.

If I swap the 2x for a 1.4x then micro adjustments show in the EXIF data.

Camera settings with 2x F5.6 160/th sec iso 100.

Any thoughts or what am I missing. Or is this an issue with all 2x extenders.

1dx is original model with 15k actuations.

Is the firmware on the 1DX up to date?

What version of th 300mm do you have?

I found the same with my 6D and 300/2.8L IS USM, but for that picture I had manual focus enabled. With AF turned in I get AF micro adjustment data in Exif and DPP.

Thank you for the suggestion but this occurs during micro focusing exercise ie with AF set and lens defocused between each frame taken. Focus is OK each time so not the same issue you found.

Re: Canon 1dx with canon 300mm f2.8L and canon 2x extender iii issue

Having spent an hour or so swapping lenses (70-200 f2.8 iS ii and the 300mm F2.8 IS ii) taking a series of frames with each on the 1Dx plus Canon 2x iii, then checking the EXIF data for Micro adjustment info I found the following. If the aperture of either lens is set wide open ie F2.8 ( showing 5.6 due to 2x extender) then the micro adjustment data is missing more often than not from the first frame. If the aperture is closed down one stop or more then the data is recorded. and if the aperture is then set back to F2.8 without turning the camera off the micro adjustment info appears when viewing exif via DPP.    No idea why this happens but it does with both lenses.
