Show Your Snaps...August 01, 2022

As Digramme is currently on holiday, I am hosting this week's thread.

This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This is open to all camera systems and skill levels.

Examples will follow tomorrow, as I'm rather short of time today.

Re: Along the river bank.

Beautiful nature photos as always, mocha123.

In regards to the weather, it was sunny here until yesterday; today and yesterday it's been cloudy with a slight bit of drizzle. I can't really say I'm sorry.

After the rain. It stormed all night.

The flared tails are a sign of aggression and dominance. Kind of like puffing out your chest.

Hi Jethro B, Thank You.

Hopefully the weather will be good for a walk around Knaresborough today.

Examples

Here are the belated examples (sorry).

On Monday we went for a walk at Ardingly Reservoir. It's quite a nice place to walk at.

Not sure what this building it for; it presume it's something to do with water supply (it is a reservoir, after all).  If you look just behind the building, you can see people on the slipway, waiting to....

Boats. Watersports are popular on this reservoir.

A bench. Looks like a nice place to eat your lunch.

Clouds over the reservoir

A curvy waterline. The water level is pretty low right now, I guess it's the recent heatwaves.

A fisherman by the reservoir.

A silver-washed fritillary butterfly.

A backlit leaf

Rocks by the reservoir. Presumably these would normally underwater.

Thanks for looking,

J.B.

Red Squirrel
1

Microsoft Onedrive reminded me that I took this video a year ago.... hope you like it.

(At one point the squirrel goes out of focus, but it's generally in-focus).

This is the only time (so far) I've got close-up footage of a Red Squirrel. I think I took the video with my 600d, probably using digital zoom.

I'm leaving for Scotland (similar area) tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get another shot.

Sunset after the storm.

First the whole sky turned yellow. Then it turned orange. Not just part of the sky; the entire sky. It was spooky.

Re: Red Squirrel

Hi Jethro B,

I've still to see a Red Squirrel in the wild. Well done, hope you see them on your travels this time around.

mocha123,

Did you see the times in the EXIF data at the bottom of the pictures?

The changeover took place in the blink of an eye. Like I said, It was spooky.

I'm Back With One Photo
2

Hi all.  I'm back from vacation.  I was actually back a few days ago, but I had tons of things to catch up on.  Here's one photo from my vacation.  I was looking for a deer, but saw this bird instead.

This kind of looks like a Western Scrub Jay, but I'm not sure.

I'll start next week's Show Your Snaps on Monday.  Thanks Jethro for hosting the weekly threads while I was gone.

Cheap macro

Put the old EF 50 F1.8 metal mount lens on with an EF12 ext. tube out back. The exif showing just 50mm was an adapted 55mm Nikon Micro lens from the swap meet. The bees were all over the flowers.

Those are beautiful colors.  I like the green insect the best.  Is that a bee too?  I've never seen a green bee.  It looks pretty cool.

I believe they are called sweat bees. They are small and not easy to capture an image of.
