How to remove persistent spot from sensor of X-T4?

Despite repeated usage of a blower and many passes of swabs with either Eclipse or VSGO fluid, this spot persists on the lower-right of the image from the sensor of my X-T4.

I'd like some advice from someone who has dealt with this problem.

The first image is a shot at f/11. The second image is a photo of that image on the screen of the X-T4 (note relation to the grid lines). The rest of the images are frames from 4k video, shot with ND filter on the XF 16-80mm lens at f/4.

I am aware of workarounds in photo-editing software and in Adobe Premiere, but the latter doesn't work for me, and the solution I am seeking is to remove this spot from the sensor. With this spot, I cannot use this camera for shooting video.

I dealt with it by sending the camera back to Fuji to clean. It was out of warranty and they charged about $200 to remove the protective glass plate and clean the sensor.

You need to try a different cleaning solution. Some spots are water soluble and others alphol soluble. Visible Dusts makes a solution for both problems:

VisibleDust Smear Away Solution

VisibleDust Sensor Clean Solution

Eclipse will not address both.  Use compatible brushes so they don't dissolve and create a film you will need to clean off.  The VisibleDust green brushes work with both of the above.

Re: How to remove persistent spot from sensor of X-T4?

Thanks. I've used the Visible Dust dual-fluid kit in the past, and had great success with it. However, although I might try it again, I'm mentally and financially preparing myself for the prospect of sending the camera to Fuji for sensor cleaning, as the problem might be a speck of dust (if not more as well) under the glass covering the sensor.

I have a similar problem with my X-S10 (as posted elsewhere on this forum). I did not know the sensor has a protective glass covering. I assume this would be true for the X-S10 also.

This makes me a little less worried about accidentally scratching it; however, as noted above, the speck could be UNDER the glass.

Keith

I’ve got a similar one on my Xpro 3, which I have found I can ignore accept when its in bright light. I do clone it out when i see it. I had thought about taking to a local shop, but they are not Fuji experts.

With photos, the spot doesn't pose much of a problem if one is okay with cloning it out. However, in my case, it was persistent in video, even at wider apertures.

The update to this scenario is that I have sent it off to Fuji repair in New Jersey. I'm advised to expect ca. $250, but such comes with the territory.

If you have a local shop that can do sensor cleaning I would bring it there.  $200 sounds a little high for a sensor cleaning.

It's not merely a sensor cleaning; it's a matter of removing the glass that covers the sensor and removing the spot from its underside. I though that I'd made that clear. It's much more than a tech at a local camera shop can deal with. The top tech at the top shop in town told me so.

I agree with your experience. If it’s something the best tech states they are unable to remedy then send it to Fuji repair. I had the same experience. My tech uses GFX gear and is a published and awarded photographer. I take his advice and opinions seriously. Fuji repair did the trick.
