At least not a novel telescope design.

Nobody said it was original. In fact, the article even mentions it's the first in the southern hemisphere and mimics the system in the U.S.

I wonder if moficera even read the article???

Copy & Paste from the article.

"The Huntsman Telescope was inspired by the innovative Dragonfly Telephoto Array, based in the United States."

To be fair, the second line of the article says "This is a novel telescope concept...." While "novel" can mean merely "unusual," which would fit here, it typically means "new" or "original." The author acknowledges the concept's origin only later in the article. IMO, it would have been better to include the acknowledgement within the first paragraph.

Anyway, wouldn't it be better to discuss the concept itself rather than argue about its novelty? It's been about five years since that discussion took place here, so we're clearly overdue for a repeat.

As Alen K pointed out the phrase "novel telescope design" is in the second sentence, but I did misread it as it was meant being novel in the southern hemisphere. My bad, I apologize.

Just found this article.

based on the comments, this looks like a controversial project and especially the explanations, or lack of it, to describe how it is made and for what purpose, as i gathered.

There's nothing at all controversial about the Huntsman project. Granted, the article that was originally linked had very little information regarding what the project is doing or how it is doing it, but that's to be expected from a site (NewsShooter) similar to DPReview which is basically just a gear review site.

There is plenty of more detailed research sites on the Huntsman project like from the actual university that is doing the research. MacquarieUniversity

Or from the original organization doing the same thing in the northern hemisphere?

Indeed. Anyone who wants to learn more about the basics of how the Huntsman Telescope works can just read how the Dragonfly Telescope works, including a number of scientific papers that go into more detail than most people would probably want to know.
