Reprogram M200 Buttons

Hi all,

I've just picked up an M200, coming from a first generation G7x. The G7x allows most of the hardware buttons to be reprogrammed, which let me set them to the features that I used most heavily. I assumed that this was normal for Canon's but can't find the settings in the menus anywhere. Can it be done on the M200?

I doubt that this is possible with M200 at all, but you may find an answer here:

I don't own an M200, but it looks like you can change the function of two buttons.
In the menu, go to page 5 of the "Function settings".

The M200 buttons can't be repurposed, unlike the M6ii and M50ii's buttons.

At first I didn't like this, being used to the m6ii and my customizations, but slowly realized it isn't needed as much since I use the M200 so differently.

Since the M200 has no EVF you are always using the rear screen to shoot. And most of what you would change is available easily on the touch screen, either directly or through the quick menu. I am finding that just as fast.

The custom buttons are so useful on the m6ii and m50ii as most of the time my eye is on the EVF, but not so with the M200.

In fact setting things is so quick on the touch screen that I've started using the touchscreen on the m6ii much more to change settings!

It's good to hear your experience with it. The g7x also has a touchscreen, but the controls are limited in shooting mode, so I've not entertained the thought of using it as the predominant interface. But, knowing that control is quickly available via the screen should hopefully mean that I'll adapt, even though we know adaption is always hard :D.

Thanks Larry
