As promised the Abstraction MC is now closed. Once again (is this a pattern? ;-)) there weren't a huge number of entries, but some very interesting ones.
Thanks to all who submitted!
Without further ado...
I've awarded a couple of extra Honorable Mentions
Richard's monochrome (partial) clock face
Being just part of the entire face, the "clock-like-ness" as been replaced with tone, pattern, line and shape. In fact, my mind no longer sees it as a clock, so I tend to read the numbers backward since they're left to right: 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3.

SHR100' s tracks in the sand
As I original noted, I really like the ambiguity of whether they're "up" or "down", depending on what my brain says. They're also a very nice sweeping pattern that contrasts with the smooth waves of the sand.

Steve's plowed field
If he hadn't labeled it, I'd probably still be trying to figure out exactly what it is!

ellare's plant
There's a lot going on here! Change the color palette and it could be the background of a classic old master painting. Nice.

Jethro's sand texture
If the horizon and plant material is cropped off, it's interesting how the scale of the texture is really abstract - No idea how big or small.

3 - Third place
Ontarian's topsy-turvy brick work
I keep wanting to turn my head like a curious puppy every time I look at this! The bricks have turned into an optical illusion. Nice!

2 - Second place
Richard's DOF experiment
This is cool! Everything is suspended in air! The sense of distance has been flattened and replaced by blur. Cool.

1 - First place - WINNER
SHR100's ... thingy!?
Is it a boat prow? Is it a platform? Is it a fence, a cage? What is is? Well, it's a pointer and a geometric shape, pointing to other lines and colors. Nicely abstracted.

Congratulations on our first place winner - The next MC is officially yours! Looking forward to it.
