Re: Cattle Egret ... on Sheep

If you are ever asked about egrets before crossing a perilous bridge remember to reply “do you mean a cattle egret or a sheep egret?”  (Discussion reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

seriously Alan you are getting great wildlife pictures with M and adapted EF-S telephoto.

The Moon and Mars

“What’s that bright thing next to the Moon?” asked my wife. And wasn’t it just Mars. Anyone else see it?

Canon M50 Mark II with Canon EF to EF-M adaptor, Kenko TELEPLUS-HD 1.4x DGX extender, and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM at 350 mm (cropped to 930 mm), f/8, 1/500 second, and ISO 400.

Re: The Moon and Mars

Nice!

I watched the occultation of mars by the moon somewhat casually with a pair of refurbished canon image-stabilized binoculars. They show up on refurb site and the older models are very capable.  they show nice detail on the moon and reveal mars as a tiny disk without details

Sky and telescope or astronomy or astronomy now ( three magazine websites) may have more photos by now.

Nice!  The 55-250 + TC gives reasonable results on M.

From Florida Mars and the Moon were close enough to be in the same telescopic field of view. I captured them with an M6ii through a Meade ETX-125 scope and Viltrox 0.71x speed booster. Also a closeup of Mars with a full-spectrum M200 and Kiron 2x teleconverter through that scope by stacking 4k video frames:

The following night I tried out BackyardEOS software to make a pixel resolution video of Mars with the M6ii, stacking that got me the 'best' opposition image of Mars in over 30 years of trying:
