100 2.8 Works well on R6

I had some problems with autofocus on 5d2 , but experienced canonists know that an old lens + old DSLR is almost certainly = autofocus problems. Of course on R6 I forgot about any focus issues.

The selling feature of this lens is internal focusing. This is the only macro 100mm lens with internal focusing that is not designated by the manufacturer as "luxury". In result you have just regular EF USM experiense, no worse than any other canon lens from 2000's. Its not so responsive as modern nano usm, but it's pretty good for cheap macro lens. I have decent hit rate with Eye AF.

The IBIS in the R6 works surprisingly well even on macro distances, and keeps me from thoughts about buying EF L version or this crazy RF.

Sharpness - well, this is a macro lens.

Backlight, flare, loss of contrast - I'm one of those vanilla portrait photographers, who looking for it. So I can't comment, I can only say that I like it.

58mm filter is another good point. This is the standard thread for small and cheap Canon lenses: Lot of kit lenses, 50 1.4 , 28 2.8 IS, 85 1.8....

Re: 100 2.8 Works well on R6

I have just noticed this post. I bought the 100mm non-L macro before the L version came out, and never felt the need to change. It always worked perfectly on the 5D models.

I recently got an R6 as an addition, not a replacement, to my 5D4, with a couple of RF lenses. The 100mm macro works perfectly adapted on the R6, with the added benefit of IBIS. Together with the 16-35mm f/4, these are EF lenses I am happy to use adapted on the R6.

You can find credible commentary that maintains that it is hard to distinguish among the image quality of any of the 100mm lenses - that they are all excellent lens and one as good as another. This covers the three EF Canon 100mm lens (one macro, one f2.0, the cheaper f2.8 non-macro) and the RF 100 2.8 Macro.
