How come is the X100V so expensive nowadays?

I've noticed that the X100V specifically seems to be more expensive and difficult to find now than it was upon release. Other Fuji cameras I can find easily and at a good price, but the X100V is either unavailable or really expensive.

Does anyone know why, a place where its price is like its rele MSRP etc.?

Inflation is almost at 10% in the EU.

That could explain it in part, though I’m seeing around a 30% increase in the U.S., from $1,399 to $1,799.

Sure, inflation is composed of several elements, including energy. The latter has increased by more than 30%. This will affect shipping costs, etc, etc.

Yes but I don't see why that would affect the price of the X100V only. All other cameras seem to be fine.

But the Sony A6400 for example has become comparable more expensive, too.

At least in USA, can't find X-E4, XPro3 (except he Dura more expensive builds).  Can't find teleconverter lenses for X100V.

X100V is more expensive because people want it but can't be found.

Does anyone know why, a place where its price is like its rele MSRP etc.?

MSRP is $1,399.95. Think it's always been that. I sold a used black one for $1250 a few weeks ago on another site.

Re: How come is the X100V so expensive nowadays?

I'm in the U.S. and just started paying attention within the last 2-3 weeks. Everywhere I would personally consider purchasng a new X100V from is still listing the camera at SRP. No availability of course, but no price increase either. At least within the few retail outlets I've been paying attention to.

No availability at MSRP is meaningless...

No availability at MSRP is meaningless. The question is how much it is now if you want one for real and now.  You will have to pay over MSRP in many places.

Feels like Fuji is focusing on their new cameras to the detriment of their tried and true X100v. Kind of a shame, IMO.

Also feels like they’re drifting away from what drew me into the fold: photography-centric cameras, small and light weight bodies and lenses, and classic controls and styling.

I’m not one to chase the latest and greatest new thing, but I’d take some comfort in knowing they were continuing down the same path. Seems they’re off to compete with the big guys and moving away from the niche that got them here. I hope I’m wrong.

Prices like these....

LOL! 😂😅

X100V is no longer being produced. Same thing with X-Pro3. X-T3 which was a best selling model was recently discontinued.

I can surmise a few reasons:

  1. X100V has a complex assembly with OVF/EVF + ND filters + leaf shutter + two in one dial etc etc. It takes more time to manufacture and maybe it is not profitable. Fuji prefers to manufacture X-S10.
  2. X100V and X-Pro3 use an older firmware which Fuji does not want to maintain or sell, hopefully so that development team can focus on newer cameras
  3. Maybe older cameras have some part which fell under shortage constraints during recent international crisis. My guess is the LCD display.
  4. Who knows, maybe the staff that was skilled in assembling X100V fell ill due to COVID and took a long break
  5. Maybe the new lens cannot resolve well on 40Mp sensor, so Fuji does not want to manufacture it. Instead, they are working on new concept for X100 series from scratch.

Anyways, according to 3 year schedule, next X100 series may come out in 2023.

Just a good lesson here - since Fuji makes only limited and small batches of X100 series that get spread over thousands of stores in 50+ countries all over the world, always buy it when it first appears, even if you have to travel to another city. Buy it in person from a small camera store. Never get into those year long waiting lines at B&H.

Guarantee one of the main reasons is chip shortage.

Also, like X-Pro series, X100V is a niche product unlike X-T/X-E/X-S, the supply and manufacture priority are definitely lower than other models, and there are very little second-hand X100V in the market right now.

Funny thing is, the X-E4 can't be found either. Or the Xpro-3 non dura edition. You an actually buy an X-E4 at scalper prices.

The X_E4 didn't come out that long ago. It think it's the shortage.

I don't buy Fuji isn't making the X100V by choice.  How can they not want to when the camera is in demand.

In Europe and at the grey market I can find all cameras you mention at normal price with the exception of the X100V. I could get a Dura X-pro3 new for less than the X100V, possibly even with one of the cheaper lenses. And that's even from the same store.
