Re: Please recommend a bag for X-H2S + XF 150-600mm lens

I'm very happy with the ThinkTank system of digital holsters and lens-pouches.

The one I now have, the Digital Holster 20 v2 -- is not large enough to hold the 150-600mm lens + camera attached.

I think however that the Digital Holster 30 v2 or Digital Holster 50 v2 should be large enough so I will try those out soon and upgrade to one of them if the camera and lens fit together.

There are a couple of lens pouches that fit the lens and will work with their belt-system.

I like that I am carrying things on my hip and can very quickly access the camera and have a couple of spare lenses in the lens pouch to quickly change lenses.

When looking at the price keep in mind that you need to buy a belt for the system too for the first one you buy!

Thanks for the suggestion. Per DV312's recommendation, I ended up buying the Tenba Solstice 20L Camera Backpack (Blue). I'm quite happy with it so far.

Hi, do you mind posting a picture of the inside of the bag with the lens inside? Just want to get idea of how much space would be left.

Im currently thinking of getting this or the lowepro 350/450 AW II.

How quickly can you get from camera in bag to camera in hands and shooting with that combination?

With the backpack I have I will not even be able to keep the lens on camera because the inserts for the backpack aren't tall enough!

I don't want to get another backpack just for this lens but am OK to get another camera holster that will fit lens+camera.

Hood attached backwards, but lens is pushed all the way to the top of the bag in this photo. The foot causes the camera to sit in the bag at an angle, but no problem. As you can see, there is a little over an inch of space at the bottom. I've attached the 1.4x TC before (TC not attached in this photo) and it still fits.

P.S. There is not really any room for packing an additional lens. (Perhaps the 27mm pancake would fit.) Even still, I like the compactness of the backpack and it is comfortable.

My use case is likely different from others. I use the bag to hike to my location, then remove the kit from the bag and attach a Peak Design slide strap (anchors mounted on the lens) or just carry the camera/lens combo in my hand without a strap. So, I don't really have any experience with quickly removing the camera from my back if an unexpected photo opportunity arises.

I do know that others have mentioned that you can swing the backpack around to your front while leaving the waist strap attached and open the backpack, essentially using the bag like it is on a table. I did try that at home and confirmed that the bag has enough support to stay oriented upwards with camera/lens inside of it. Not sure I'd trust doing this way all the time though, as it seems it would be a lot of pressure on the waist strap. This design feature seems convenient, as it allows you to change lenses without putting the bag on the ground. With that said, I've never used it that way in the field, but it is nice to know I could if I wanted to.

I also use the bag to store the lens when not in use. The lens is so long that I don't have any other backpacks/bags that would fit it.

I think the bottom line is that this bag is probably not what you are looking for if you think you will be using it in a "run-and-gun" situation similar to a sling bag where you can essentially keep the kit the bag and quickly remove it every time you see a bird or other quickly fleeting subject. However, for me (in my use case), the backpack works great so far and I'm happy with it.

Many thanks! It’s good to know it’s comfortable, that’s obviously very important.

I use https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1396535-REG/mindshift_gear_356_backlight_18l_backpack_woodland.html which is also a shift around and open type of backpack , It fits the X-H2S + XF 150-600mm lens + another body with a shorter lens.

BTW, what people think is the best way to carry the combo using a Peak Design strap and anchors?   Both anchors on the lens or one on lens and one on camera?

I have the tripod collar facing the top so I can hand hold it with ease, then a anchor on the left side of the lens, and another anchor on the bottom right of my L bracket (smallrig).

For shoulder carrying I would recommend carrying with a anchor on the lens as I’ve already had 2 moments where the lens tried to unmount itself (no idea how it happened).

Maybe my logic is off, but I use both anchors on the lens, as I don't want there to be any strain on the connection between the lens and body. On my X-T30 + 1.4xTC + 100-400mm lens, there seems to be some minor play. It could have been there from the outset, but I don't want to take any chances with the new kit.

Which fits the Sony A9 + 200-600 perfectly + room for accessories , iPad, another lens , + tripod on the side

Since the XH2S + 150-600 is about the size of the A9 + 200-600 to the T , I 'll be reusing this bag

Tenba makes very well made bags , I've made many purchases and am very happy with them

In case you want a sling bag, this would fit as well

I have both

I probably need to get a bigger bag, I currently have the WNDRD Provoke

Gitzo 30L

I went to Park Cameras and spent an hour trying bags, ended up with the Gitzo 30L. It just looked great. As for space, it fits the X-T4 and 150-600 perfectly and is very snug and can hold 2-3 more lenses also. At the top it has a seperate comparment that expands for other stuff or a jacket.

I highly recommend this bag if people are still on the fence looking around.

Well GAS got the better of me

Found a UK authorised shop selling  for £1799 £100 lower than any other, first time I’d seen any UK shop discounting this lens

I did phone them and check that was a new unopened one not a return

so the 150-600 iOS on its way

Re: Gitzo 30L

That's exactly the setup I'm looking for (except I have an XT5, but it's the same dimension) , thank you very much for posting this picture, it's really helpful.

F-Stop backpack with a suitable ICU

Samuraidog wrote:

I'm having a hard time finding a carry bag that will fit my preordered X-H2S with attached XF 150-600mm lens. I measured at a Fujifilm event last week and the camera/lens combo is 16-inches in length. I'd like to find a bag that will fit at least 17-inches (assuming 1.4x TC is attached).

My local camera store has a ton of bags, but none that would seem to fit this combo.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

F-Stop makes portable and usable backpacks and you can choose a ICU that is the best alternative for this camera/lens combo. Easy to adjust. Ajna 37l + Pro large insert for example
