Please recommend a bag for X-H2S + XF 150-600mm lens

I'm having a hard time finding a carry bag that will fit my preordered X-H2S with attached XF 150-600mm lens. I measured at a Fujifilm event last week and the camera/lens combo is 16-inches in length. I'd like to find a bag that will fit at least 17-inches (assuming 1.4x TC is attached).

My local camera store has a ton of bags, but none that would seem to fit this combo.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Tenba 20L

I have this :

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1375346-REG/tenba_636_414_solstice_20l_backpack_blue.html

Which fits the Sony A9 + 200-600 perfectly + room for accessories , iPad, another lens , + tripod on the side

Since the XH2S + 150-600 is about the size of the A9 + 200-600 to the T , I 'll be reusing this bag

Tenba makes very well made bags , I've made many purchases and am very happy with them

In case you want a sling bag, this would fit as well

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1408191-STUD/tenba_636_424_solstice_sling_bag_10l.html/specs

I have both

Good suggestions, a holster bag such as this may work as well

How do you like the H2S?

I used to have H1, but it was too big so I sold it. (and also it liked to lock up during video)

Thank you for the suggestions. These look like nice bags. I should have specified that I'm looking for something that I can quickly/easily open or swing around to open while I'm out walking about. I prefer a holster or sling style so that I don't have to put the bag on the ground to open it every time I see a bird or other wildlife.

Questions

How will this bag be used?

Will the camera and lens be the only things in the bag?

Do you have a style of bag you prefer?

Is air travel involved?

I'll use it to carry the kit on day trips in nature. Camera and lens alone with a spare battery. No air travel involved.

Something like a shoulder bag with easy access would be great.

You might want to think about charring this weather resistant kit via a harness or long strap that attaches to the lens foot.  This way you have your camera at the ready should an opportunity present while you are walking.

Thank you for your post. This seems like the best option for me so far. A couple of questions about the backpack version.

  • Do you think the 12L version would fit the kit?
  • Do you feel the waist system is stable when the backpack is swung forward to access the camera?

The sling is designed for that purpose

it’s quite sturdy

you may need to reverse the hood to fit all in

Sony hood is quite large

maybe Fuji is smaller and can fit as mounted

The sling also has room for more stuff

The Tenba Axis 20L and Solstice 12L are both top and rear-opening packs. The Axis has side access but that doesn't help with a big lens (I zip-tied it shut on mine).

On the Tenba product shots they show the Solstice swung round in front and dangling by the waist belt, so that might work. Wouldn't want to try that with my Sigma 150-600 Sport, but with the lighter Fuji lens it might be OK.

I might be wrong, but it looks like the XF 150-600mm lens is one inch longer than the Sigma 150-600 Sport lens. Based on the photo you posted, that might not fit, unless you have the hood attached in your photo (hard to tell whether the hood is attached in your picture.)

Hood is reversed, but there is a Fringer EF FX Pro II adapter between body and lens, even then it's not a particularly tight fit in the bag.

IIRC Canon EF flange distance is 44mm and Fuji a bit over 17mm, so the Fringer adds ~26mm? Not near it to measure just now.

Thank you for taking the time to post photos and reply with additional information in response to my questions. The Tenba Solstice 12L backpack or Solstice sling bag looks like it will work for me.

Also, I like Morris' idea of adding a strap for carry. I have the Peak Design strap, so both the backpack/sling bag + the strap sounds like the perfect combo for carrying my setup.

No problem. If you put an arca plate on the foot (IIRC the new 150-600 lens has a dovetail built in), then I can recommend the Kirk strap that clamps onto that. I assume they still make them, had mine for years.
