A couple of TG-6 questions....

Do you think buying this camera refurbished from the OM site where I can get it for $287 is a safe proposition?  Also they tout the macro capabilities of this camera, is it truly decent?  Can you get close to the subject with the lens at both zoomed out and in?  I currently have a Panasonic GX9 and the 12-60 kit lens can get fairly close but I really haven't had a decent macro camera since one of my older Canon Powershots.  I was kicking around getting a $300 macro lens for my GX9 but have always had an eye on the TG6 for walking outside in rain and snow conditions and wondered if the macro was ok, could kill two birds with one stone with the TG6.

I saw 4K video example from this camera and it really isn't that bad.

I bought mine refurbished from Olympus.  No problems.  No regrets.  It's so small and thin I usually throw it in a cargo pocket or coat pocket while my primary camera is on a cross body shoulder strap.  I'll pull the pocket Olympus out when I want to get up close to something.  It's a nice shift of mindset if things aren't working out.  It takes pics as close as the lens and focus stacking works well.

Ugh, I waited too long and now the red ones are all gone.  Another use I was thinking of it was to carry in my bicycle jersey if I found I could deal with the bulk.  I miss having a real camera where you just press a physical button or too to take a picture rather than fiddle with a iphone touch interface that doesn't recognize your face in a helmet and is finicky with sweaty hands.

I also bought mine refurbished from Oly last year & they were having 20% off. Mine looks like new & have had no problems. Mine is red but I did not care if it was red or black. It replaced a Panasonic underwater camera that I had had for about 10 years.

They usually had these sales couple of times a year but don't know if OMDS will do the same. Great buy at around 280 US$.

+1 for the Oly Outlet. Mine was used and in pristine condition. No issues at all.
