Just Got the MZ 17MM F/1.2 PRO!

Today I got the MZ 17mm f/1.2 PRO, and what a nice lens it is! Usually I like longer lenses, but it is an interesting challenge for me to work with an (almost) 35mm equivalent. I already got a couple dozen shots, recorded some videos, and with that I had just a few throwaways in harsher conditions. I’m impressed so far.

I think this is one of my best lenses so far (across every system) and nicely complements my MZ 12-100mm & 100-400mm in low light situations where both are just a little bit too slow.

I had a problem after buying the 17/f1.2 that you need to be be wary of.  After a few excellent shoots with the 17/f1.2, I had to buy the 45/f1.2, followed within a year by the 25/f1.2.  So one lens purchase led to two more.  They can't be beat when you need the max aperture or want shallow depth of field.

Have fun with the new lens.

Haha, so true. Initially I wanted to get the 17 & 45mm, but for now the 17mm has to be enough. I think I won’t get the 25mm though, because I have that focal length already covered on other systems, and it would probably just sit unused in the shelf, as there wouldn’t be a lot of room for it between the 17 & 45mm.

There were a couple of shots today which I didn’t like, which again shows that 35mm equivalent is not my strength, but I have the feeling that I’m getting better to find the compositions I like.
