I'm with you Gary. I'm fighting off selling my Canon R5 and several of the boat anchor RF L lenses. This camera and it's exquisite lenses are spoiling me. The focus is scary fast and accurate too. Right there with my R5 and frankly that is the best AF out there right now above the Nikon and Sony's I've used.
It thrills me to read comments like this one. Without a doubt, I am biased in favor of M43. I have loved Micro Four Thirds ever since I got my first (E-PL3) in 2013. Over the years I've heard so many snide and/or ignorant comments from users of other formats - even those who used basic cameras like Canon Rebels. Asking me when I'll "upgrade" to a real camera, or criticizing the DOF of the format, or more. So many on this forum itself.
And for the past few years of course, people have been predicting the end for this format. And I have thought at times if I've cornered myself into a dead end, or what I'm missing out on, and of course watching the Sony A9 fly circles around E-M1 series AF. Wondering if I am foolish to hold on to my Pro lenses rather than selling them and recovering some of the investment while they still hold value.
And now I feel vindicated, like all those years of holding on to the format and continuing to invest in it have been worth it. I have also stepped back from spending my time on forums and instead photographing more - in part because I no longer feel like I need to defend the format I love and believe in. Comments like yours are nice to read because they tell me that it isn't just me. The OM-1 has given us our "E-M5" moment again.
