Juvenile Bald Eagle
2

This past Saturday I went out walking looking for wildlife. I didn't see much until I saw this Juvenile Bald Eagle. At least I believe it's a one year old Juvenile Bald Eagle. If it's not, please let me know. I've never had the fortune get these types of closeups of the eagles (unless i was at the zoo).

Photo No. 1 - I saw the Bald Eagle just about 50 to 100 feet from here. I thought I would start off first to show you the area. It was very cloudy but at least the rain stopped.

Photo No. 2 - I found it perched here.

Photo No. 3 - It moved around some. I think this was my favorite photo of it.

Photo No. 4 - This was the only time I could capture the bird moving around like this on the post. I almost had too slow of a shutter speed, but I didn't know at the time that it would change positions.

Photo No. 5 - I kept taking pictures.

Photo No. 6 - At different angles....

Photo No. 7 - As long as it would not fly away, I clicked the camera repeatedly.

Photo No. 8 - This was cropped to get closer.

Photo No. 9 - And cropped some more....

Photo No. 10 - And one more...where I took picture no. 3.  I hope you liked the series.

Juvenile Bald Eagle - Thanks

Thanks.  Yes, the eagle stayed around long enough for me to get lots of clicks.  I've seen mature Bald Eagles here, but if I would try to get closer than approximately 150 feet to it, the pair would fly off.  At that time, I tried stepping towards them super slow, but their eagle eyes would not have any part of that.

Re: Happy National Bald Eagle Day

I was happy a Bald eagle presented itself today, it has been awhile and I was starting to worry that bird flu may have gotten them, And also a photo of my grandson play Americas past time with a nice finish to his swing on a home run ball.

Juvenile Bald Eagle - Thanks

Thanks.  I've seen hawks up close (once in a tree about 10 feet away), but this looked a lot bigger.  But I see the red tail too.  It's hard to tell when they are juveniles, but I'll go along with what you say until someone says something differently.

Ah, for sure that's a Bald Eagle.   That's a good one of your grandson too.

Re: Happy National Bald Eagle Day

Thank you, I wouldn't lead you astray . Juvenile eagles are a darker brown no chevrons on chest or much white for that matter . Hawks can get quite large I have seen them chasing off Osprey and being confused myself thinking they are an eagle based on wingspan compared to the Osprey they are chasing.

Juvenile Bald Eagle - Thanks

I would guess the bird was about 35 feet away.  Rocket corrected me.  It's a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk.

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, once I saw the red tail after Rocket mentioned it, the bird that I photographed looks like a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk.

Thanks.

I wouldn't know anything about your birds, I'm only familiar with british birds.
