G1x-II

I`m mainly using my M6-II + 6 lenses but when I only want to take a camera without a bag I still grab for the G1x-II with the 24-120mm lens.

Re: Still happy with my G1x-II

Do you know if there's a tube adapter for this camera?

I would love to purchase a G1X mark ii and use it with my tele conversion lenses.

I've been looking for cameras that allow tube adapters and so far can only find two modern day models:

Panasonic FZ300

Ricoh GR iii series

Re: Me too! (nt)

I had the original G1x only for a very short time and sold it again .

Why?

This camera could have been a real winner for Canon but they missed that chance because the image quality was very good - but

Canon G1x

the optical VF dark and very small

the autofocus very slow, also the start up  time

slow lens with limited focal range so no real background separation

the close focussing range was a desaster, even for headshots the autofocus didn`t lock many times and I had to switch to macro mode and therefore I missed many shots

The mark II solves all this quirks and I can use the EFV from my M6-II

I still have mine. Haven't used it in ages. Maybe I'll dust it off and take some photos.

Re: Still happy with my G1x-II

Absolutely. I shoot mostly on travel (polar bears, copper canyon...) and spontaneous portraits. It fits in my purse, so I usually have it with me. It is inconspicuous for shooting among strangers.

One problem: the step option convenient for changing focal length, for example, is now quite stiff and must be tugged on to move.   Any experience on how to free it to move smoothly?

Thanks in advance

The CCD is 1.5 inch in size and zoom range is very useful.  Image quality is also very good   The downside is a bit heavy and large in size.  Not suitable for pocket carrying. Still carry it for hiking.

I just got a G1X original for £106 good condition. i love it as a walk around camera. I have used many G Cameras (G5,G6,G9,G11). the old G5 was my first, ive never found a  true replacement for it till the G1X MK1.

The pictures in all of your posts are stunning, well done. Canon colours are so natural, I still use my G1X (original) from time to time and am always struck by the superb image quality

Thank you very much. The colours are DxO PhotoLab though; the original Canon colours were not to my liking, especially sky colour and foilage. I started shooting raw soon after getting the camera in 2015.

I entered three recent pics in the "Cold" challenge here: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66650343

This one was a contender but didn't make the cut. What do you think?
