So 8K video in a phone... is now a thing?

Granted this is Amazon India BUT I looked and these seem to be available.

https://www.digit.in/amazon-articles/mobile-phones/top-phones-that-support-8k-video-recording-61641.html

So why 8K you ask? The ability to zoom in During post... No other for me. But for my editing, this will be huge!

Samsung has had this for quite a while, since the S21 I think...but it's nothing to write home about.

My Note 20 Ultra has it and I've probably used it about once, and the results weren't great.

What wasn’t great about the footage?

Lots of rolling shutter, low bitrate, didn't look as smooth as 4k.

I would say 8K is useless in a phones, as theyre too overprocessed.. a lot. It all goes through camera's ISP, which is already at low power saving mode. Modding phones can be handled better - but this requires a lot of knowledge and very depends how hard the phone is locked by manufacturer.

But a RAW dng sensor stream capture is now a thing, thanks to genius MotionCam creator. I do use both Mi 11 Ultra (12.5MP native) and Mi 10 Pro (27mpx native main sensor) - so the details are indredible and data to work with captured footage.
