0KB video files and cannot playback on camera

Summary: Hello, I shot several video clips today using my Canon 200d. I got home and put the SD card into my MacBook's card reader. Most of the videos showed up as being 0kb in size.

After some research, I found that files bigger than 4gb will do this, and that they should actually be transferred using the Canon Utility App. The problem is, now I can't open those same videos on the camera anymore. They come up with a message of "cannot play back movie". And I've tried moving the video files onto my device using the Canon app, but I get an empty video. Can you please help me?

AMph,

My T8i manual says this,:

  • When importing movie files exceeding 4 GB to a computer, use either EOS Utility or a card reader (). It may not be possible to save movie files exceeding 4 GB if you attempt this using standard features of the computer's operating system.

Have all the files on your card been erased?

It almost sounds like your card has been re-formatted. That's just a guess on my part.

What happens when you record a video smaller than 4 GB?

And, what size card are you using?
