Ok guys so I pulled the trigger and got an Angelbird 512gb card. It works flawlessy out of the box so far, but I've got one, possibly silly question though.

How do I remove the card from the camera? Do I push it in just like and SD card and it will pop out, or should I just pull it out without pushing it in?

I was gently trying both ways and I feel like either way it's just too tight to work.

Push it and it should pop out a bit

After that you can pull it completely out - they don't slide out as easily as SD cards

Thanks mate! Seems like I was just a little bit too afraid to push it harder than I am used to with SD cards.

Cheers

Thomas

Re: Some info on CF express cards for X-2HS

So I’m looking at this Integral card here in the UK, definitely the cheapest by far. Does anyone have any experience with them? I think I’ve used one of their SD cards in the past so don’t have much experience - they are definitely at the “budget” end of the scale. However, as I literally only need it for redundancy I’m not all that worried about certification or pure performance figures.

Not specifically on CFe, but this is the only brand SD card I have had fail (in an X-Pro 1, so no backup) in over 10 years.

Thanks. I actually still have the SD card, goodness knows how long I’ve had it but it’s still going strong.
They come with 5 year warranty seemingly - and while obviously no amount of warranty can cover lost work I think it could be just about worth the savings as it would just be purely backup. If both the SD card and CF card were to fail at the same time, well that’s just downright bad luck.

I spied they were using AngelBird cards on one of Fujis official X-H2s promo videos

Well spotted - its ironic they aren't on the validated list - the write speed only seems to be around half that of the faster cards - but still much faster than SDXC UHS-II and at a tempting price

Good spot lol may be sometime soon Fujifilm/Angelbird will update their compatibility lists. No problem with Angelbird SX card so far, for stills.

Yeah. I think they are using the faster 512gb card in that video which is quite pricey (£400+).

I've gone for the 'AngelBird AV PRO CFexpress SE 512GB' version which is around £180 in the UK. Fingers crossed it will work okay.

Maybe you can update this thread when you've had some time to test it out - I see Scan (UK) has it for £175 - which does seem good value

Hi all,

I've now got my X-H2s and the AngelBird AV PRO CFexpress SE 512GB card and I've made the above video showing it working in all modes with ProResHQ and also H265 120fps. It's not the most scientific test but I'm happy with the card.

The camera too seems excellent. I've traded my X-T4 for it so it's going to take some adapting to (getting all the menus and Fn buttons mapped out how I like) but I'm happy with the upgrade.

The lack of standard on CFE cards is an absolute nightmare. I know there's growing pains with any new technology but firmware updates for a memory card?! It's not Fuji's fault obviously.

Didn't Sony do something utterly outrageous providing there own firmware for the CF cards and forcing people to buy only their cards at some point?

I don’t think I could give up my X-T4 even for the X-H2S - so I’ll just have to keep both! I’ve only had mine for a couple of days and almost like clockwork the heavens opened here and haven’t stopped so I yet to even get past the front door with mine yet.

One thing I like from the outset is the amount of programmable buttons. I have been able to map around 90% of all the functions I need to a button of some description. This is compared to my X-T4 where a large number of the functions were assigned to touchscreen or D-pad shortcuts.

Thanks - looks like the card is worth getting - I'm not really interested in high bitrate video as I don't have the rest of the infrastructure capable of handling it.

However, it it can maintain a sustained 800MB/sec write speed it should handle high speed bursts well.

Possibly the Angelbird SX cards are better bet for stills, that's what I went for. Less capacity, but more speed compared to the SE.

Note Angelbird issue firmware updates from time-to-time but to apply these to any of their cards you will need an Angelbird reader.
