Lumix G9 Question

If I select 3:2 aspect in the shooting menu on the G9, when I open the photo up in DXO Photolab 5 for RAW editing  the image is displayed at 4:3 aspect, and if I want 3:2 I have to crop it in DXO. On my GX7 I dont have this problem, if I import  what ever ratio the image will be displayed in thet ratio

I'm not sure if I have missed something in the G9's menu setup.

Re: Lumix G9 Question

The GX7 cropped the raw file that was almost unique of that camera

if you open it in lightroom it will show 3:2 dxo however ignores it

With my GX7 DXO will show the 3:2 ratio as set in camera. It baffles me why my G9 doesn't do this.

It is not a good thing what the GX7 does. If you have made an error in framing there are no pixels to be recovered

It has nothing to do with DxO it is the camera that does not process the pixels all cameras RAW are the full sensor with the aspect ratio just as metadata but not the gx7 (bad thing)

Interesting

As a SOOC JPG shooter for quite sometime, never noticed the RAW of GX7 will cropped according to the aspect ratio selected.

Not only G9, RAW of GX85 and G85 will be in 4:3 no matter what aspect ratio been selected.

I had the GX7 if you select 3:2 the raw is lacking the pixels

i went on a diving trip and set the cameras as 3:2 to maximise the screen I was shooting a fisheye of a reef and wanted to get back to full sensor but the pixels were not there which was a bummer since then i shot 4:3

Re: Interesting

I can't figure it out , if I shoot the G9 with the 3:2 ratio, In Adobe Camera Raw it will display the photo in the 3:2 ratio.

Yes remove crop and the whole image appears

dxo ignores anything the camera says

Re: Lumix G9 Question

Thanks everyone for your imput,I have found how to edit a 3:2 ratio Raw file. In the Geometry settings click on Crop and make sure it is on, then under correction select Auto based on keystoning under Aspect ratio select 3:2.
