TCL X100

Couple of question to those who own the Fuji’s teleconverter. Are you over all happy with it and does really get use? Does it affect the closest focusing distance or will it stay the same? Has one one any good closeups shots that you could post? Thinking of getting one but have not yet decided.

Hi,

I have the X100V with the WCL and TCL. The TCL gets the least use of the three focal lengths. Why?

- I think my eye is too used to seeing in 35mm equiv now! I do tend to use the WCL quite a lot up in the mountains.

- It is undoubtedly a bit bulky. I quite like how it looks actually, but it definitely makes the X100 a bit less 'pockatable' though.

I definitely don't regret getting it though - it's great for portraits and when you do want a 50mm equiv. IQ doesn't seem to be affected. Will have to check on min focussing distance.

Will post some samples later on today.

Hi,

The below are all with the TCL. The watch image has been uploaded at full size, and that was as close as I could get to the watch. Tripod mounted at F10 and ISO 160.

Hope that helps with your decision,

Andy.

Re: TCL X100

Thanks a lot Andy great shots. I’m actually considering both the TCL and the WCL. I’m a huge fan of the 50mm focal length so that will not be a problem. I really like the minimum focusing distance (10cm) on the X100V and was hoping it would be the same with the converters.

Re: TCL X100

With the TCL it does seem to have a slightly longer minimum focus distance, but not by much. Suspect if you were shooting macro style images there wouldn't be much difference in effective magnification between the two.

The WCL is great - more compact than the TCL and again no noticible difference in IQ. I use it quite a lot for landscapes when I want something a bit wider than 35mm. Same thread size as the normal lens, so good for filters if you're into that sort of thing.

Both do introduce some barrel distortion - but auto corrected in JPGs and can be in Raw as well ( Capture One can anyway, I assume lightroom would be similar).
