Hoping For Rain

This past Sunday I was hoping for rain at the Rose Garden. If it was going to rain, it wasn't expected to be much as we had lots of clear skies too. I was hoping for rain, so I could take pictures of the roses with raindrops.

Photo No. 1 - I also wanted to see if I was too late for the Rhododendron wall.

Photo No. 2 - Well I was, as you can see the white flowers already had been dropping off on the right side.  So I didn't spend much time here.

Photo No. 3 - I was looking for roses, but there was not a lot of them. At least there was some sun.

Photo No. 4 - Here's one overview of the area.  As you can see, there's very few roses to be found.  I think it might be because we've had such cool weather this May.  The clouds came in.

Photo No. 5 - But I did find a few roses.

Photo No. 6 - And here's another one.  Sometimes we had a little sun.

Photo No. 7 - All of a sudden these people were walking towards some shelter.  It started to rain.  I was excited for that, but I don't think everyone shared in that sentiment.

Photo No. 8 - They walked quickly to get out of the rain.  I was out looking for roses under an umbrella.

Photo No. 9 - They were able to hide from the storm here.

Photo No. 10 - And here's another view.  The question is, did I find enough roses with raindrops?

Well, when it was raining, I did have to look hard for the rose flowers. There were not many. But anyway, I did find a few. I hope you like the pictures of roses with raindrops.

Roses With Raindrops - Thanks

Thanks.  It's tough to get the combination of rose flowers and raindrops where I live.  The reason is the roses don't fully bloom usually until mid-June (with only a few in May) and the dry season begins.  In the summer sometimes it will not rain for weeks.

Hi Digirame,

Excellent, love the variety of colours too. Such beautiful flowers.

The first one is outstanding.  I just loved seeing it.  The others with the wildlife and flowers are great too.

Wow...that's neat.  I've only seen owls twice.  The first time was when I only had a P&S camera that did not do very well in low light conditions.  It was on a tree branch in a forest.  I didn't have any obstructions.  The second time I was using my Olympus DSLR camera, but there were too many branches in the way.  I kept following it under the dark tree cover looking for an opportunity, but finally it flew away.

I liked the color tones in this one. I think I should have dialed the exposure compensation down a notch.

Browsing among the honeysuckle/ Look at how well he is camouflaged,

We had a pair nesting in our backyard this spring.  They were there in 2020 but I did not see them last year so was happy to have them back this year.

Yes, in the first image when there's bright lighting and dark shadows, it's hard to find that balance.  But I think you did good.  What type of rodent is that?  Good catch!

Dig,

That's Mr. Groundhog.

My cat turned to me and said, "That's the biggest mouse I've ever seen!"

Re: Travelling the East Midlands.

Hi Digirame, Thank you.

The first one was when I was travelling home, the roads were so narrow I couldn't stop, then a parking stop appeared so I got out and took the picture.
