Hi, my v3 list from October 2020 needed an update. Here we go.
Just because I've done it for myself, I share with you the list of all NATIVE EF-M lenses I found:
8 Canon lenses (with AF):
All Canon lenses are relatively budget-friendly, and well build for this range. Outside the 22mm and the 32mm, all are stabilized. They are meant to be light and compact (all are under 300g.). As a direct consequence the zooms are on the slow side.
- 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM compact for 18-35mm équiv. (a bit shorter compared to the 18-55), stabilized, great optical quality. 220g.
- 15-45MM F/3.5-6.3 IS STM smaller than the 18-55, but full plastic build. 130g.
- 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM original kit lens for the M, full metal finish. 210g
- 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Optically, a good step above the 18-55 kit. Sharper and more homogenous 260g
- 18-150mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM kit superzoom, versatile and compact for this focal length. 300g
- 22mm pancake f/2.0 STM tack sharp and very light. Weak points: visible vignette wide open (easily corrected, especially with the 24mp sensor) and no IS. 105g.
- 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM. First EF-M macro lens. 1:1 ratio and x1.2 with "super macro" mode. two led imbedded for additional lighting when you nearly touch your subject. Compact, 130g.
- 32mm f/1.4 STM the brightest EF-M from Canon. The sharpest too. No IS. 235g. (My favorite!)
3 Sigma lenses (with AF):
Three affordable f/1.4 primes with AF, designed for mirrorless APSC. All of them are a welcome addition to the EF-M system. All three are relatively affordable for this type of lenses and got good reputation across the mounts they are available on (Sony E, MFT, Leica TL).
- 16mm f/1.4 DC DN, no IS, 405g A bit bigger and on the heavy side compared to the original canon EF-M "rules".
- 30mm f/1.4 DC DN, no IS, 265g
- 56mm f/1.4 DC DN, no IS, 281g
1 Tamron lens (with AF):
- Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III VC tested by Dustin Abott : the biggest size to keep a balanced camera (with M1), optically good for the category, useful all-in-one. 460g.
