Cure for NX30 problem?

Got it VERY cheap, upper wheel did not work.  Can get by that. But now sometimes, it shows -3 or 1.4 or stuck at 1/400 using A or P or S. Mostly it is ok. Been spraying and blowing the upper wheel gently. But this must be something else? Any cure for it? - Can get a new one but would try to fix it anyway.

"Spraying and blowing gently" is fine if the contacts in question are exposed. However, if they were exposed, they'd be very prone to contamination, so, I suspect, you'll need to disassemble the camera as far as necessary to access the switch mechanism, which is probably sealed, in part at least, so you can actually inject your spray into the switch. There is, of course, always the risk of mechanical failure of the switch, which will require replacement, or failed solder connections, which maybe an easy repair for someone with the appropriate tools and skill-set.

Good luck

Thanks! Well, have never disassembled cameras so that would be a risk. Will use it daily, that could help, maybe. One user said check firmware, which is 01.31. Is that ok?

Anyway, can get NX30, 50-200 II, 16mm 45mm 18-55 for $400, not bad. Very good seller. Using 45mm a lot, nice to have two.

Can't see how a firmware update would affect a switch function … if the camera has worked adequately in the past it should continue to perform the same without needing to update the firmware.

I'd have grave reservations about "investing" $400 in an obsolete system … especially if a proportion of that was to duplicate equipment I already owned!

If you want to stick with the NX I'd suggest looking for just a body, but the decision is yours

Thanks! I guess it is a dust problem. Part of the cover coming loose, can maybe see some copper wire under. Not good. Being an amateur, no doubts about investing in NX. And can afford some extra. Just bought another white NX500 and 30mm. Earlier the 85, but rather use 45 outdoors. I guess the quality is much the same. Today using NX20, good enough in strong sunshine.

Re: Cure for NX30 problem?

My NX30. Think more of the grip fell off after I bought it. Will cover the hole and tape on top. And spray the PASM wheel. When at A, most problems disappear when I take out the battery and put it back.

Re: Cure for NX30 problem?

The seller's NX30. You can clearly see the left part of the grip coming loose, and the hole is right under. He did not admit the problem but set down the price.  I did not buy. - Not impressed by the grip, when seen on 2 of 2 cameras. Used a lot, but anyway...

My NX30's wheel is somewhat erratic, often when changing shutter speeds and f stops, will only increase them, can't reduce. Or for zoom-in on the screen. Spraying does help, temporarily. Guess it must be an inherent design weakness since its a new condition body, underused by previous owner.

Work-around solution, I enabled touch screen. Now I hardly need the wheel, I always press Fn and scroll the relevant function by touch. Blow up, the same way.

Thanks! Touchscreen of course!  Never used, but works fine. Nice when Fn is not working... Before that I almost  always got ok light in images, even if shutter and aperture was a bit unstable! Strange. Underused - got NX20 never used, very slow reaction to everything. Still  not exactly action camera, but everything ok if you press twice. Now mostly avoid cameras not used for years. And check all my cameras now and then.
