Local park fauna | X-T30 and 50-230 II
10

Just some photos of the wildlife in my local park that I took yesterday. I went early to avoid the usual crowds during weekends and brought some oats to attract birds

Dragonfly

Moorhen walking on water lily leaves

About to dive in

Male ducks

Male duck diving

Close up

Moorhen and its chicks

Walking about

Eurasian jay

Water lily close-up

I'm fairly new to shooting birds and these slower-moving ones were a good way of testing my gear and skills. Comments and critique are welcome.

Very nice set, this lens is really great performer if you have enough light.

Jay is superb!

Cheers,

Artur

Nice variety Yoan.

Suggestions:

- If possible, get down to there level for a much more intermate view

- For the Jay, you are lower and that's good yet the subject is looking out of the frame.  Try and have it look into empty space in the frame.

Great exposures on all

Thanks Artur. Yes, the lens definitely punches above its weight! Its optics are very good but AF can be limiting in lower light.

Morris, thanks for your comment and suggestions, I highly appreciate it especially knowing it's coming from an experienced wildlife photographer.

The weed on the lake's shore prevented me from getting down lower, unfortunately. The jay had landed on an asphalt path, the tilting screen came in useful there. I agree I shouldn't have zoomed in that much.

Thanks again and I will keep these points in mind for the future.
