Image stabilization X-H2S

During the presentation they mentioned that the image stabilization is so good a gimbal is no longt necessary. However none of the reviewers talk about this at all. What do you all think? Is it an over exaggeration?

Re: Image stabilization X-H2S

I don’t tend to believe the corporate marketing folks until real independent reviews of production units become available. That’s my take on this topic.

All I can add to this is that the combined OIS and IBIS using the 150-600mm was really quite astonishing. On activating, handheld, it felt like being suddenly locked down. This was for stills though, not video as this was the core of my testing.

I found OIS in XF100-400 excellent (I got sharp image using 1.4TC (560mm) @1/15sec handheld). If the new H2s+XF150-600 really had ~6 EV efficiency at 600mm it would be great. Do you think it's as stable as "bare" 100-400 with no IBIS body or better:)

Cheers,

Artur

Are you asking me if the combined X-H2S IBIS and 150-600mm OIS working together is more stable than using the 100-400mm OIS without any body IBIS I'd say yes, I think so.

I asked about your feelings :). I'm pretty sure that new lens&camera  IBIS+OIS should be better @400mm than XT3+100-400@400mm, but IBIS efficiency decreases on longer FLs.

As you know 100-400 very well, you might have felt the difference between these two setups at max FLs.

I think you already answered my question - looks promising - thank you!

Cheers,

Artur
