How the Sam Hill Do They Do That?!

Lighting the tiny AF dots in an OVF's focus screen mystifies me. I've had two out of their cameras now and there's not so much as electronic contact points for embedded LEDs or anything like that.

How do they get that dead acrylic screen to light up? Or are those LEDs somewhere else in the pentaprism/pentamirror housing above the screen?

If my memory is right, I believe there is a very thin layer of clear glass right between the screen and the bottom of the prism.  it is actually a lcd like sandwich that has the focus squares and other viewfinder marks or lines that may change.

You're Right, KCK14!

I spotted that clear panel with the AF points embedded in my 40D.
