Pen F manual focus is in colour when camera set on mono

(I decided to offload my boxed Pen F it was a great deal US2000 with a bonus used PenF.)

I enjoyed focus peaking as a guide when manual focusing on the Panasonic GX7 in mono mode and it stays mono. Not the case with the Pen F that jumps between b&w and colour. A right pain in the butt.

Sure there is magnify but that requires recompensing etc

Then there is auto single plus manual mode but that means that the camera’s focusing system and I are constantly in competition

ah well at least I have $2000 in cash now and a camera that looks like a dog’s breakfast as a door stop

You could have changed the colors and intensity in the settings, or adjust them on the fly by pressing Info.

(recomposing).  And that would depend on where you put the focus point, just like when you don't use the magnifier..

You're supposed to keep the shutter button half-pressed. Then you adjust focus on the lens and AF won't interfere.

Instead of asking here about these issues (or even simply RTFM) you had to jump to conclusions and sell off your gear. Well, enjoy your $$$ while it lasts!

That is so.

A firmware update is unlikely, though. The camera is officially discontinued. And a possible reason is that focus peaking is just another filter and the processor cannot run more than one concurrently.

I’ve had my Pen F for years and do about 90% mono profiles 2 shooting. You will get used to the brief color switch for peaking after time. In fact I had to get my Pen F and turn it on to make sure you were not mistaken. Enjoy the rest of the camera 😀

Since it was a freebie, and you are going to trash it,,,, send it my way. I know a person with little disposable income that would it.

I set my Pen F to mono, manual focus assigned to movie button. Press shutter button half way - it focusses, press movie button then turn focussing ring - the image enlarges but stays mono.

My apologies, you are quite correct; I did not know what 'focus peaking' was, as all my lenses are auto focus, (I can't see the point of manual focus lenses). I just tried 'focus peaking' on my camera and it behaves as you say.
