Still using the NX1 for Pro photography

I'm still using my NX1 and NX500 for my dog photography.. the only lens that I don't have yet is the 16-50 S.  Is it worth buying or just a waist of money.  I'm using the 45mm and the 85 and the 50-150mm for most of my work.

Here's one of my pictures

I absolutely love the 16-50S lens, it's fast, great stabilisation and great quality.

However, unless you shoot a lot of video, you can probably get the same results or better with the other lenses at the same focal length - 16mm,20mm,30mm,45mm.

I've owned the 16-50 S lens since its release and I agree 110% with all said in Marrkyboy88's above post (I also own all the primes mentioned in his post).

Like it's big brother, the 50-150 f2.8 S which you currently own, it's little brother, the 16-50 F2-2.8 S are Samsung's only Pro lenses.

Because your post title mentions NX1, the weight of the two Professional lenses are both both very ergonomically suited for the NX1 than NX500 (my opinion).

Unlike the 50-150 f2.8 S, and not mentioned, the 16-50 F2-2.8 S is a variable aperture zoom, specifically, F2 between 16-18mm, then gradually stepping down to 34mm, then F2.8 between 35-50mm.

My opinion is based on ROI: purchase if you strongly feel the cost of the
Pro 16-50 S F2-F2.8 IS USM pays for itself i.e. more keepers, more revenue.

Unlike the majority on this forum, I pack heavy i.e. typically NX1, 50-150 S, 16-50 S, 12-24, 3 batteries, and lens/sensor cleaner, contained within the Mountainsmith Borealis backpack. I've have zero breakage with my NX1, and both S lenses since my initial purchase in 2015.
Best Regards,
TuVu

I also use my NX1 for pro work and see no reason to change at this point.  The 16-50 S is a very good lens but unless you need the image stabilization (which most of the primes don't have) you probably don't need it, especially if most of your dog photos are in a studio.  If they are shot outside a studio, handheld, them the IS & wide focal lengths (16 to 50) could be of benefit.  For my work, which is not normally in a studio, I find I use the 16-50 S & 50-150 S lenses most of the time with the 45mm probably my 3rd most frequently used.  Also often use 1 or 2 580 strobes slaved to the camera for some interior shooting.  My only regret with the Samsung system is that they dropped it.
